I believe that it is crucial to strive for excellence in all areas of environmental protection. In my initial project, called “Wearing eco-friendly clothes,” my objective is to substitute 5% of my clothes each year with eco-friendly alternatives and minimize my clothing purchases.

LET'S TRY CHANGE

Recently, I have developed a keen interest in the environment of our planet, and I cannot deny that it is inspired by my mother’s influence. It serves as a reminder of the significance of awareness campaigns in addressing our environmental issues. My mother is very familiar with waste separation in Korea, to the point that even at home, I would get scolded for not properly separating my trash. It was challenging to follow at first, and I felt pressured and annoyed, but eventually, it became a habit and a genuine interest of mine.

I once watched a documentary that deeply disturbed me. Seeing animals eating plastic, garbage, and other toxic materials was horrifying. I was disgusted by those who carelessly disposed of their waste and frustrated by the lack of government action on this issue. However, I soon realized that I was also guilty of this behavior. I felt ashamed and knew I had to take action.

My mother advised me to take my time and do what I could, no matter how small. Her words inspired me to make a difference and educate others on the importance of protecting the environment. Although my mother never pressures me to study, she does scold me when I do anything that harms the environment. I understand the significance of preserving our planet, and I strive to do my part.
